How to choose the right skip bin size
Compare the waste type, bin size, included weight and hire period before you book.
Start with the waste type
The right skip depends on what you are throwing away as well as how much there is. Choose general waste for eligible household and light building waste, green waste for suitable garden material, or clean hardfill for soil, stone, bricks and concrete. Keep the streams separate and check the accepted-material list before booking.
Compare capacity and weight
A 3m³ general waste skip is the smallest standard general-waste option. The 7.5m³ and 9m³ options provide more space for larger loads. Green waste skips come in 7.5m³ and 9m³ sizes; clean hardfill uses the 3m³ bin. Each product has its own weight allowance. A bin can reach its weight limit before it is full, particularly with dense material.
| Skip | Size | Included weight |
|---|---|---|
| General waste | 3m³ | 500kg |
| General waste | 7.5m³ | 1,000kg |
| General waste | 9m³ | 1,200kg |
| Green waste | 7.5m³ | 1,000kg |
| Green waste | 9m³ | 1,200kg |
| Clean hardfill | 3m³ | 3,000kg |
Choose a hire period
Select seven or fourteen days when booking. If you need the skip for longer, check the extra-hire terms. Collection is not automatic: request pickup when the bin is accessible and ready to leave.
Check delivery and access
Enter the full site address to check delivery eligibility and charges. Tell the team about gates, overhead wires or branches, narrow driveways and fragile ground. If you are unsure which bin fits the site or the load, call 0800 155 255 before ordering.
Ready to choose?
Compare current skip sizes and prices, check the waste rules and book the option that suits your project. For larger requirements, ask about hook bins.
