What can go in your skip bin?

Keep waste streams separate so you book the correct bin and avoid contamination or additional charges.

General and construction waste

General waste

Suitable: light domestic and commercial waste, building and demolition waste, timber, metals, plastics, furniture and homewares.

Not suitable: soil, stone, concrete, liquids, asbestos, hazardous material, meat, bones or animal waste.

Green garden waste

Green waste

Suitable: lawn and garden clippings, trees, shrubs and bushes. Tree stumps may generate excess weight charges.

Not suitable: flax, toetoe, cabbage trees, long grasses, soil, hardfill, timber, plastics, metals, food or hazardous material.

Flax, toetoe, cabbage trees and long grasses must go as general waste.

Clean hardfill material

Clean hardfill

Suitable: clean soil, stone, bricks, concrete, boulders, pavers and ceramics.

Not suitable: asbestos, hazardous material, liquids, wood, plastics or metals.

Clean hardfill is available only in a 3m3 bin.

Loading and charges

  • Do not fill a bin above its top edge or in a way that may spill in transit.
  • Mixed or contaminated loads may be charged at the general waste rate and can incur additional handling charges.
  • Declared tyres can be added during booking: car $30, four wheel drive or truck $60, tractor $250. Undeclared tyres are charged at double the applicable rate.
  • Excess weight is charged at $0.40/kg for general or mixed waste, $0.15/kg for green waste and $0.10/kg for clean hardfill.
